The Lotus Sutra Wonderful Dance of Peace & Harmonious Coexistence
Choreographer Anthony Meh used the "Ancient vs. Present" concept to link the moon shining brightly above Buddha 2600 years ago when he shared his thoughts on "The Lotus Sutra" to the same moon and the same Lotus Sutra in present. The relationship in between the past, present and future established the most peaceful and harmonious coexistence. This creation derived essence from the “King of All Sutras” by using many parables and stories. The choreographer meant to bring forward the core messages of the Lotus Sutra which is “all people have the seed of Buddha-hood in them and may blossom someday”, no matter poor or rich, superior or inferior.
The choreographer created the piece from stories derived from the Spiritual Herbs Chapter, Boddhisattvas Emerging from the Earth Chapter, and Boddhisattva Sadaparibhuta Chapter which will resonate deeply in the audience.
The Lotus Sutra: Wonderful Dance of Peace & Harmonious Coexistence consists of 8 parts, which are namely Overture: The Eternal Moon and The Same Wise Lotus, The Tree of Avidya, Samsara, Forgiving Dust, Passing On, A Reflection of Mirror, You and Me, and lastly, Coexistence.
