was established on 6th November 2008 after gaining approval from the Malaysia Registrar of Societies. PPM was jointly initiated by a number of artists from Malaysia who are working on different types of painting medium. Therefore, PPM is one of the multi painting medium art societies in Malaysia.
The development of PPM is similar to the growth of a seed, from sprout to current stage, it relies on members’ unselfish contribution and support from all circles. With united effort and blessings from all, PPM progresses steadily step by step, growing stronger as one of the art societies that represents
Malaysia. Art comes from life. Artists enlighten public with more understanding on their life experience and internal spirit through painting, music, writing or movie. However, visual artists are able to promote art atmosphere by presenting their artwork with individualistic painting style and creativity. Therefore, visual artwork often is the the portrayal of culture and customs of an area or a region. This has enable the promotion of unique local specialties and the inheritance of a nation’s culture and tradition.
Malaysia is dominated by three main races and each race possesses her own culture and ways of living. With tolerance from all, these differences have become one of our country’s uniqueness. In the 20’s, crafts and decorative arts were excellent in this country. There was a group of artists from China who travelled and migrated to Penang and Singapore. Based on the themes of local environment, culture and customs, flora and fauna, they painted by combining the painting techniques of various races to produce artworks of tropical expression and colors that best represent the art of Malaysia.
Today, we are pleased to see the local young artists manage to produce artwork that completely reveal the beauty and unique of Malaysia regardless of painting medium or materials. I would like to wish all devoted members of PPM to have a splendid time in art and let’s create wonderful art pieces together. After fifth anniversary, let’s go forward and progress to our tenth anniversary.
